A massive well done to everyone who took part in the double handed day! It was lovely to see both some new and some familiar faces sailing.
The day started with some good strength wind and some warmth. Race 1 got under way with Nick Colebeck and Rich Chaney taking an early lead in the RS Vision, followed by Nick Turbo Ross and Alicia Hastings. Lizze Kay and Harry were looking strong in the Mirror until their mast came down and they had to retire. Nick Turbo Ross was gaining on Nick Colebeck and looked to overtake, however once they passed they retired. Raffal and Olivia Panek sailed really well and took the lead, however they just got pipped at the last mark to finish second behind Nick Colebeck and Rich Chaney.
With the Mirror out of action Harry paired up with Malcolm Davidson in the Comet Duo and Lizze Kay went out with Nick Turbo Ross and Alicia Hasting, before dropping Alicia off on the Committee boat.
With the second race underway Nick Turbo Ross took the lead with Lizzie Kay as crew, closely followed by Peter Hampshire and Jonas. There was a good breeze and the fleet mainly kept their positions. Poor Russ Bently and Andrew Hastings had to retire due to a boat damage. Resulting in Nick Turbo Ross and Lizze Kay taking the win.
The third race started in wind and gained in strength as a black cloud moved in, but then the wind dropped and the rain started to threaten. Peter with Jonas took the lead in lap one followed by Nick Turbo Ross and Lizzie. However as the wind dropped in the second lap, the back of the fleet caught up and Malcolm and Harry in the Comet Duo came into the mix of the RS Visons over taking Rafal and Olivia in the Laser 2 and Peter and Jonas in the RS Vision as well as Spillers (Antony Spillerbean) and Rich Chaney also in an RS Vision. Malcolm and Harry then overtook Nick Turbo Ross and Lizze too, ending up first to cross the line even in the slowest boat.
