Compound Clean Up Work Party – Sat 12th Feb
It was great to welcome six newcomers to join us at this morning’s Compound Clean Up Work Party. Barge and floating concrete block ready for re-positioining.
As one of them said as they entered the compound: “I’ve never seen so many cars in the club car park!” Hopefully that will be replicated with an increase in member participation ‘on the water’ in 2022.
We were also joined by four Youth, who came down to clean their boats and prep for the coming season yet helped greatly throughout the compound and with the fire!
This week we:
- finished our work to clear the undergrowth and brambles from beneath each boat plot, by completing Rows B&C. Great effort by Ray, Phil, Rob, Jake, Don, Morgan & Malc.
- continued to upgrade the Clubhouse Pontoon with sparkly bright white rope and re-attached skirting.
- attached the first handrail to the pontoons on the northern shore – Brian
- cleared more stuff from The Barge – Youth & Malcolm
- removed fittings from boats destined for the fire pit – Roger
- progressed upgrade works to the Dory engine – Nick
- provided Tie-backs to the newly hung Curtains – many thanks to teamwork of Mike and, the incredibly talented Chris
We’ve now completed the vegetation clearance beneath members’ boats this week – great achievement. So, our focus for the next couple of weeks will be on the upgrade of the Pontoons and clearance of The Barge and other preparation for it’s imminent move to the northern pontoons.
There will be a Work Party each Saturday morning from 9 – noon, up to 5th March (inclusive).
