Supernova Open

Some changes to the Sailing Programme on Sundays in August

Sunday 15th August: SUPERNOVA OPEN AND CLUB RACING

A delayed 15:00 start to the club racing is required, as the SuperNova open comes to Attenborough SC.

There will be an 11:00 start for the first of the three SuperNova races and you are welcome to come along and watch the fleet in action.

If anyone is available to help around the club on the day it will be most appreciated.
It would be great if we could have someone to ‘serve behind the bar’ or to act as a Trolley Dolly to help the visitors launch and recover.

Club racing will start at 3pm with two back-to-back races.

Sunday 29th August: August Bank Holiday w/e Sunday

As we will have just completed an RYA course for Junior sailors in August, I felt it would be great if we could encourage those folk and other Juniors, Youths and Families to enjoy an afternoon of fun sailing at ASC on the Sunday of August Bank Holiday w/e – 29th August.

This will take a similar format to the very successful Club Regatta held on 13th June, with some fun racing incorporating such things as fine boat control. This may take the form of coming to a standstill as close to a buoy as you can / sailing a leg backwards / sailing a leg without a rudder / picking up floating objects to deduct from your race time.

If there’s only a light breeze perhaps we may have an ‘anything goes’ race – i.e. no rules! Will there be a Le Mans style start to one race?
Who knows!
The OOD1 on the day may be open to some recommendations or requests from sailors young and old to help them decide!

If the weather forecast is favourable we could also repeat the popular BYO BBQ!

We look forward to seeing many of you out on the water then.
