Newsletter 3 – The Digging Continues

Thanks for all your work over the last weekend and good to see a great community building. Work to date, was inspected on Monday by the Building Control Officer and he was very impressed with quality of work. He will do a final inspection once all the trenches have been dug. Last week, utilities were also re-connected to the old start box with the toilets.

For the next three weekends we will only need people on Saturdays but good if we could have a few more in the afternoon. So for the next three weekends (30/1, 6/2 and 13/2) we will be digging the rest of the foundation trenches and installing drainage. This means the really big weekend, with a very early start maybe 06:30hrs, will be 20th February when we will have three hours to pour up to 6m3 of concrete in to the foundations.

On Saturday Ben Price and Dave Bexson did further height measurements and looks like clubhouse will now be slightly more elevated. I also met with Dave Bexson, Paul Cater and Rob Corner on Monday for our weekly review of progress. We expect to have the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) in place in a week and confirmation of these together with three quotes will be sent to Sport England for final sign-off. We will then place the order for the new clubhouse building which will take about six weeks to deliver, so early April. Prior to that and after concrete is lain the foundation brick work and cross beams will be installed during March.

If you are working at the club please ensure you sign in for the hours you have worked. Also do remember that work area will be classed as a construction site and rules and signage will be in place to ensure safe working so please ensure you follow these. Roping off has already started and hi-vis vests will be available on Saturday.
