SUMMARY:Youth Improvers Training
DESCRIPTION:Calling All Juniors:  \nThe first junior session is fast approaching – this Saturday (12th May)! I hope you all remember how to set your boats up and how to sail! This junior session will be filled with lots of fun and sailing. We will be on the water at 13:30 hrs\, so I hope to see you all there before that! The format of the junior sessions have been altered for this year\, with there being no junior race included in the junior sessions itself\, and instead they will be filled with many hours of fun! The junior racing is aligned with the Sunday Summer Series during the first race which starts at 14:00 hrs. The first date for this is the 1st of July.  \nThis year for 2018\, the junior sessions are alternating between Saturdays and Fridays! The second junior session will be on Friday the 18th May. We are aiming to make the junior sessions this year to be as fun and exciting as possible\, so if anyone (you don’t have to be a junior to make a suggestion!) has any suggestions of games or perhaps ‘themes’ for particular junior sessions in order to make them more fun and hopefully attract more junior sailors to join in\, please email me on: youth@attenboroughsc.org.uk  \nAlso\, if anyone is afraid that they have forgotten everything\, I will be down at the club on the water Friday the 11th in the evening from around 5pm to 7pm\, so if anyone wants to come down and have a little sail before the first junior session this Saturday\, please feel free! \nThe comet open is on the 9th June\, with the first race at 11:00 am and the briefing at 10:30 am. This is all about participation\, having fun and meeting new people than it is about winning the race. It is a great event to be a part of\, so if anyone is interested in taking part\, you can contact Malcolm Davidson about borrowing a comet from someone in the club: malcolmdavidson@talktalk.net  \nI have mentioned many important dates in this post\, so here is a quick list so that you can easily put them in your diary:\nSaturday 12th May – first junior session of 2018! DESCRIPTION:Comet Association Championship 2017\n26th –27th August 2017\nLocation:\nAttenborough Sailing Club\, Barton Lane\, Attenborough\, Nottingham NG9 6DY \nType of Water:\nAttenborough Sailing Club is a 65 acre site with a few islands\, beside the river Trent and Attenborough Nature Reserve\, an area highly valued for its wildlife. \nAccess:\nASC plans to open the club at 6.00pm on Friday to allow for early arrivals. Location about 4 miles south west of Nottingham\nAnd about 8 miles east of Derby \nAccommodation:\nLocal hotels and guesthouses can be found from the usual Internet sites.\nWe have a car park where parking of cars and caravans will be allowed and limited areas of grass on site where people can site tents. \nRaces:\nThere will be 5 races with one discard\nASC will ask that people arrive and sign on between 8.30am and 10.30am on the Saturday and there will be a briefing from the Race Officer at around 10.30am \nNOR:\n\nFull NOR\n\nRacing signals will not be before 11:00am on the first day and not after 3:00pm on Sunday. \nRegistration:\n\nPlease register here\n\nPlease Note:\nComet sailors need to be members of the Comet Class Association to participate. DESCRIPTION:view/download poster\nOnce again the Comet Open is being hosted at Attenborough on May 13th\, as in previous years this has always been well attended with our members and visitors. \nWe would encourage as many members with Comets to have a go at this event\, open to all abilities and experience\, so do join in. \nThis event is open to everybody with a Comet (you do not have to be member of the Comet association) and Cost £10 for 3 races and includes lunch. \nIf you are not available to participate would it be possible to loan your Comet to another member to experience this great event and promote Attenborough as one of the best events in the Comet circuit. \nAttenborough will also be holding the Comet Association Championship over 26th/27th August\, put this date in your diary and is a real coup for our club\, not to be missed. \nFor further details contact myself or any member of the sailing committee. \nMalcolm Davidson
