2012 Sailing Programme
For 2012 the Sailing Committee has followed a similar format to that successfully used in 2011. There are however a few changes. For the Summer Sunday race series we will use personal handicaps to calculate the results for the first race series. The format for the second race series is undecided at the moment. We are going to encourage Comet and Laser sailors this year and would hope that if sufficient race we can have separate starts and series for them with everyone else in a menagerie fleet. We will also be holding a BBQ after racing on the third Wednesday of each month.
The Olympics gives us the opportunity to push sailing and the Open Day will be Olympic themed in 2012. On 21st July there is an Olympic themed "Push the Boat Out" day to try and get as many boats on the water as possible. Hopefully there will be none in the boat park that day.
As for last year, the Junior, Novice, Master Regatta has been replaced by a Club Regatta that will allow all members to participate. The Sailing Committee has moved the Regatta to the 22nd so that over the weekend 21st/22nd July we have Push the Boat Out, followed by an evening social event and then the regatta the next day. I am also pleased to say that it has been agreed by the Comet Class Association that we can host a Comet Open meeting and this will be held on Saturday 23rd June. Also note that this contains other sailing activities; power boat courses, social activities, junior club training dates together with training dates for the ever popular Comet and Laser training evenings.
