Winter Wednesday Travellers 2014

After 6 months of pleasant summer evening sailing over the last year we have now got 6 months of cold, dark and more often than not, wet Wednesday evenings to follow before sailing starts next spring.

BUT don't be downhearted, it means now is the time for the Winter Wednesday Travellers Series to begin.

After the successful inaugral event of last year, we intend this year to follow in a very similar vein. In fact many of the hostelries we will visit will be the same as last year.

Wednesday 1st October 2014
We are starting at the pub that is nearest to the club, so all your muscle memory you have developed over the last six months will not have to be altered too much to find us.
The Cornmill, Swiney Way. See you there soon after 20.30.

Wednesday 8th October
After a slow start to this years series with only a handful of members coming to the start line at the Cornmill, where they only had five real ales to choose from, we are determined to give you a lot more choice this week.

With well over 1,200 real ales to choose from, we are heading to the Robin Hood Beer Festival, Nottingham Castle.

Tickets are sold out for Friday and Saturday but are available on the gate on Wednesday. I advise you to get there early if you want to sample every one of the beers.

I suggest we meet somewhere near the Blue Monkey stand about 8.45.

Wednesday 15th October
After a most enjoyable evening at the biggest beer festival in the world last week, where incidentally entry fee was only £2, and plenty of space to find and enjoy some of the beers on offer, (sadly we didnt manage to try every one of the 1,200 beers) we are travelling somewhere a little more homely and traditional.
The Cadland, 342 High St, Chilwell, NG9 5EG.
See you there 20.30 ish.

Wednesday 12th November 2014
This week we are aiming to enter the Quiz at The Boat Inn, Priory Street, Lenton NG7 2NX

Last years effort showed a shoddy lack of knowledge throughout the whole team on the subject of popular television programmes especially popular soap operas, I am extremely proud to say!!!

But a good night and good ales will be on offer. Quiz starts soon after 21.00, see you all there 20.30 ish.

Wednesday 19th November 2014
A pleasant evening was had by all in the Boat last week, just missing out on the Quiz trophy by a few points (well - quite a few actually) but without any soap opera questions to vex us.
This week we are going to do our annual inspection of Chilwell High Road, to check on the progress of the tramworks and to partake in another quiz at the Hope Pole, 2 High Road Chilwell NG9 4AE.
A warm welcome, fine ales and free chips after the quiz last year. Let's hope for the same this visit.

For those of you that can manage a pint twice a week, don't forget the Laying Up Supper (or whatever this year's event is called), Canal House, Canal Street, Nottingham on Friday 21st. Tickets now available and going fast. Book early to ensure your place.
