A nice light wind welcomed the start of the Spring series. In the first race both Phantoms had gear failure even before the start and at the start Nick and Ruth Marlow were too enthusiastic and recalled by Race Officer Ray Kemish. So good racing on a testing course with along beat and the usual island hopping. A strong Silver Fleet was won by Kevin Last from Rob Corner with Nick and Ruth Marlow third.
Five boats entered the Gold Fleet, which was won by Mike Pritchard in his first race since last September. Roger Day was second with Bob Cuerstemont third.
